Fresh Herbs

Cooking with Fresh Herbs

Fresh Herbs, more often than not, are preferred over dried herbs when cooking recipes.   The problem is that many people balk at the thought of cooking with fresh herbs because they think it’s too much trouble to prepare them.  That’s just a rumour being spread by cooks who aren’t in the know.  The truth is, preparing fresh herbs is easy when you know a few tricks and have the right tools on hand.

Visit Cooking with Herbs for easy ( illustrated) instructions about properly preparing fresh herbs for cooking.  You’ll also find useful tips for cooking with fresh herbs and a handy conversion guide to help you replace dried herbs with fresh ones in all of your recipes.

A helpful tool for chopping fresh herbs is a Mezzaluna.   The Mezzaluna knife originated in Europe and is quickly gaining popularity in the States.  I’ve featured one here for you to take a look at.  I have to admit that I don’t own one yet so I can’t give a true review, but I can tell you that a Mezzaluna is next up on my kitchen gadget wish list!

The chopping bowl set featured above is brought to you from a unique store that I’ve just discovered called Bellacor.  Bellacor offers customers the ability to browse their displayed items or choose a personal customized shopping approach through their Personal Shopper Service.  If you haven’t visited there yet, I suggest you take a few minutes to go window browsing.  They truly have some awesome things there.

The mezzaluna and chopping bowl set is great for chopping garlic, herbs and vegetables. The bowl makes chopping much easier and neater than using a full sized cutting board. The set features an oil-finish and comes with one 12” chopping bowl and one Mezzaluna knife. -Made in the U.S.A.

Every year I grow so many fresh herbs in my garden in pots. They’re so easy to grow and produce so heavily, it’s difficult to use them all. Thanks for the tip on the mezzaluna knife and bowl. I’m going to have to order that. It definitely would make prepping the herbs so much easier.
